9th of September 1932, news from Marc Edmund Jones’ Sacramento Meeting

Ths is from a newspaper article on Marc Edmund Jones meeting on Sunday morning in Sacramento. The article is missing so I will update this post when I find it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The original chart for 9 am when the meeting began is in orange and below. But it is incorrect as in the United States, Daylight Saving Time ended on Sunday, September 25, 1932 and so on the date of the meeting it was still daylight saving time. I checked with Kepler 8 and it too has it wrong, so in the next chart, I corrected the time an hour ahead to reflect the correct astronomical time for the meeting. As you can see the major change is the ascendant, naturally enough, from 25 Libra 50 to 07 Scorpio 51.

The chart’s aspect changes slightly from a see-saw to a wheelbarrow with Saturn & the Moon in the third house of brotherly outreach, a fair description of what was the meeting, for Dr. Jones — a title given to Protestant ministers in respect instead of the Roman Catholic Father for priests — was trying to introduce like-minded people into his new “religion” of universal brotherhood aka the Sabian Assembly.

Eventually these “meetings” caught the attention of the Presbyterian elders and caused him to leave, and his post at Riverdale, California was his last official organized religious assignment. Thereafter all his “meetings” were to be done via the Assembly in newsletters and his and his wife Priscilla’s travels throughout the country.

The “new” ascendant of Scorpio 08 is just two degrees off from his own ascendant of 10 Scorpio 01¹ showing how much this meeting was a reflection of his sincerest beliefs, and gets the symbol of “the Moon shining across the lake.” Jones writes that this symbol reflects the period in life “when people call upon magic ” in facing a spiritual or psychological cross-roads. That works very well with the Saturn-Moon handle to his wheelbarrow as he was questioning his role as Presbyterian minister and whether it was at odds with his beliefs. In this chart we see he called upon the Holy Spirit — the Moon and the magic — to give him direction.
