Map of bristol

In 2017, our writer Mickey Saladin, went to Bristol Connecticut, his home town , about sixteen miles away from the capitol, Hartford, for his full moon coverage. Check below for that report.

This year, nine years later in 2026, I decided to Bristol for another full moon. Instead of being on the sixth, this one is on the twenty-sixth. Our ascendant in 2026 is Sabian symbol 14 Sagittarius 24 of “the groundhog looking for its shadow.” This symbol highlights people’s creative “interest in the potentialities” for this a time that encourages them to depend on trial and error and not go by some old playbook. Jones gives it the keyword of “reassurance,” suggesting that while things change, and there is always uncertainty in it, once we confront that change and accept it, all is normal again and that change becomes the “new normal.”.

With the third and ninth houses harboring interceptions, there is some truth to that — things in the news and online forums are not what they seem, and many people are listening to all the hysterics and getting frightened. Everyone wants us to buy something we probably don’t need, or yelling “end of the world” and “apocalypse.” Either way, that’s how they sell things, so it’s best just to ignore them until things settle because if we are happy, news doesn’t matter, and if we are unhappy, then we aren’t paying attention. With so many distractions upon distractions, it best just carry on and not waste your time listening to salesmen.

Dolly Parton died a week or so ago. We ran an essay on her a while back. You can read it here.

The planetary pattern this time is also an Hourglass showing the shifting news that batters people around like toy ballons. The preponderance in Aries on the third-fourth cusps suggests overall things are perking up but with the part of fortune conjunct Uranus in the sixth, it will be rocky road until we get an all-clear signal.1 I imagine that is the Midterms.

Mickey Saladin’s 2017 Full Moon Coverage

Situated on the Pequabuck river, Bristol was a major manufacturer of woollens, hardware, and brass ware. Bristol Clocks were first manufactured after the War of Independence and have always been well-valued.  Originally part of nearby Farmington, Bristol broke off  in 1727, but it was not until 1748 when the Episcopal Church led the fight for independence that the breach occurred.

During the Revolutionary War, Bristol, like much of Connecticut, and Rhode Island, and New Jersey for that matter, was a notable Loyalist holdout.  After the war, Bristol and Farmington were united once again, but by 1806 they parted ways for a last time; and the latter town is now part of Burlington Township while Bristol holds firm to Hartford.

                               The Full  Corn Moon

The September full Moon is known as the Full Corn Moon because traditionally it corresponds to the corn, a grain, harvest. It is also called the Barley Moon because it is also when barley was threshed. The ripening of barley, a cereal, is also associated with the Harvest Moon, which occurs in October because that is when the harvest is complete.

                                      What Pattern is it?

While the chart looks like a wild Splash, in reality it’s just a see-saw.  What’s the difference?  Well Splash’s live for the opposition, straining and stretching their awareness in every which way but they have no or very few conjunctions. Also of course Splashes must have a grand trine to anchor them; see-saws have no such anchorage.

Our Corn Moon does not fit the requirements of Splash: too many things populated in one particular house, see the second, and it has a strong North-South bias. If that was not enough to make it fail as a Splash, the amount of conjunctions do, for while it has three out of five oppositions, or four if we count Pluto the Ascendent, it has over five conjunctions; you would never see a Splash with that many connections.

The oppositions are all from the second (resources) to the eighth house (income) telling us that perhaps we spent too much on maniesting those summer dreams and instead of a fall harvest we are looking at belt tightening both materially and physically.

The Ascendant at 03 Leo 56 shows that the sudden erratic rain storms after the August eclipse and Hurricane Harvey hitting the oilfields of Texas & Louisiana are adding worries for possible effects on gas prices, automobile fuel and heating oil for the the winter ahead.

With Uranus at 28 Aries 04 in the Tenth House, conjunct the Midheaven at 19 Aries 47   it maybe a while before things settle down.  In the meantime, resourcefulness (hoarding, planning and generally economizing) helps.

The keyword is Morale. Remember to buck up and stay Bristol strong.

  1. The “all-clear signal” is an indicator issued by a continuous siren tone sent by radio or television broadcast that the “danger” — war, foreign invasion, bomb threats, catastrophic weather, or pestilence — is over and everyone can return to business at hand. In our case this is probably the Mid-term elections since it is the newswire & publishing houses that have the interceptions. ↩︎

Notes: This chart was originally published by Mickey Saladin September 1 2017. It was updated with the current chart information on September 1 2026 and posted for the fifteenth.
