Sage Steele and the Impact of Free Speech in Sports Media

Sage was the talking head for ESPN SportsCenter. She was a prominent face of SportsCenter and NBA Countdown, covering major events like the Super Bowl and NBA Finals from 2012 to 2020. Her candid storytelling and versatility as an anchor led to her success. She also hosted SportsCenter on the Road from various sporting events.  But all that changed when she spoke out of turn.

While Disney,, has no problems with Jimmy Kimmel’s tirade against President Trump and questioning the motives behind the assassination of Charlie Kirk, they did have a a problem with Steele. First, because of her Aspect of Humanity, Jupiter is sextile to Venus, she questioned the efficacy of the Covid jab. Nonetheless, to save her job she got it.

Then she argued with former President Barack Obama’s remarks that biracial people like themselves should identify with only one race: African American, on the US Census. Perhaps this too was her Aspect of Humanity kicking in. I cannot say because i do not have the dates for this controversy, but it does she to have similar hallmarks. Disney said she was not allowed to argue with Obama. She disagreed and claimed it was not in her contract. She sued Disney, claiming it was infringing on her right to free speech. The Giant Mouse settled out of court.

Charting Steele

Another interesting aspect, Steele has is the Aspect of Magnetism : Mars and Venus are conjunct. This probably explains her popularity. She also has a large preponderance in the third house of communications, a great place for a talking head or journalist. But hers, along with her Part of Fortune, are in Scorpio, which seems all too descriptive of her comments coming back to bite her.

She is a Leo rising and a Sagittarius Sun with a Virgo moon. If it weren’t for her Saturn in its rulership in the tenth house, Sage would be a bundle as all her planets fit within a trine, , but that Saturn changes the picture and becomes a Bucket with a Saturn handle.
