A call to print
It all started with a small Yahoo group, back when such a thing existed, that was called Sabian Earth. It got its name because a Brazilian member thought it sounded great in her native tongue. We couldn’t find anything else anyone could agreed so it won the poll.
Diana Roche, the ex-Administrator of the Assembly and published author of The Sabian Symbols: A Screen of Prophecy, listened in. She had been invited for her input and generously gave lots of advice. It was she who recommended using the Jones 1000 natals in the back of the original Sabian Symbols by Marc Edmund Jones for further study.
Her idea seemed genius. Little did we know that some in the past had tried and given up. Diana was sly and did not tell us anything that would dissuade from the endeavor.
The group, though, was strictly mundane-oriented. I asked all the members to submit something to the Newsletter but most were bashful and balked.
M.K. Saladin, a Sabian Assembly Legate, said yes. Mo1 decided to take on the Martin Luther chart from Jones’s How to Learn Astrology. This was the first of Jones’s many astrological books. It was a particular puzzle in the Assembly because Jones never disclosed his source of the chart.
The Gunpowder Plot & Martin Luther
Mickey’s choice was unusual because Sabian Earth, as its name suggests was just a mundane astrology group. His reasoning was that Martin Luther was pivotal to the whole Reformation movement and an inspiration for Jones to enter the seminary.
Mickey admired the man. He met Jones way back in the seventies at the Chaplin, Connecticut “Barn.” He felt that doing the Luther chart was an appropriate homage to man.
The Empire Strikes Back
I chose a mundane chart for the Guy Fawkes Gunpowder Plot. It was a five hundred-year-old terrorist attack on the British Parliament because . I have always liked the poem. Looking at the chart, and reading more about the event, I became interested in why it did not go off…lack of matches? wet environment…not enough gunpowder were some of my original ideas.
It was the chart itself that provided another reason. In the end, in viewing all the events, the chart’s reason seemed to make the most sense.
Despite the disparity in the two chart types, type of chart, they did have something in common: they both happened early November. Albeit they are about 120 years apart, but it was seasonal.
Another thing I learned was Guy Fawkes was a Spanish agent, trying with his allies to reverse the English decision to leave the Church of Rome.
I have learned a lot through astrology. As Doris Doane, a Church of Light luminary, and friend of Jones, said, it is a wonderful hobby. I too recommend it.
Publication
The newsletter was sent out in mid-November and met with a great reception; I hope you enjoy as well.
