From mighty oaks, acorns fall

Kristen was born in Philadelphia, like her mother, a Philadelphia real estate agent. and right before the Bicentennial on July 1st.

Her father Harvey, originally hails from Mansfield, Ohio and went to Ivy league Dartmouth University, where he played football and got a degree in engineering. He now works for Icarus Consulting, a firm that helps other companies becomes more DEI attuned in their hiring.

The Welkers are major donors to Emily’s List, a pro-Choice women-centric Democratic political action committee (PAC), and the Obama Campaign. In the latest election, her parents are strong Biden-Harris supporters.

kristen and john hughesKristen and John were married in a traditional Jewish ceremony. Their children are being raised in their mother’s faith.

Kristen also graduated from an Ivy League institution like her father, but a bit south of New Hampshire school at Boston’s Harvard University in 1998. She majored in history but soon turned to TV reporting.

Her first jobs were California, then Rhode Island before landing a job in her native Philadelphia working an NBC affliate. From there she graduated to NBC’s national reporting cre, becoming a White House correspondent and then co-anchor of “Weekend Today.”

Married with Children

Kristen met her husband, John Hughes on a blind date. They were married on March 4, 2017, at the Hyatt at the Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia.

The New York Times reported their wedding program included the crossword puzzle Hughes had made for Welker on their second date. Their first dance was to the evocatively romantic “At Last” by Etta James. Eight years later they have two children, Margot and John, both Geminis, and like the Obama’s born through surrogates.

Mapping Kristen

There is no published birth certification for Kristen, so we had to rectify her based on what is known about her life. We picked 20 Scorpio 55 that gets the keyword of “Socialization” with the symbol of Hunters shooting wild ducks. It suggests that the modern person has realized that its need for competition but exercises discipline by channeling this onto a higher plane. The keyword is “Exercise”.

Kristen & the Peacock

Kristen is a deviated bucket with a Jupiter handle. Her ascendant though is Scorpio ruled by Mars gets a lot of prominence from T-Square from Jupiter to her ascendant to Mars in the ninth.

This allows the opposition to find its expression: Mars in the ninth house of publications and legal affairs.

The lord of her chart is Mars (it rules Scorpio), which is square her ascendant. This shows ambition particularly through the venue of journalism (it is in the ninth house) sextile Mercury in the seventh house of opportunities and relationships. It is also sextile Uranus, the planet of technology, in the eleventh (the populace) on the cusp of the twelfth (interaction with the government and powerful people.)

Mars also creates a yod the head of which is the fixed star, the Peacock, which is also the symbol of her network: NBC. Here it warns of vanity and braggadocio alienating her coworkers and viewers. Positively though it heralds success and riches which have definitely come her way.

Halycon Days

Kristen’s star is rising. President Trump commented in his first interview with her she was a “fair moderator,” and probably why in his second term her request to interview him was granted again.

This mutual compatibility is probably helped that his ascendant is next to her Saturn in the first house, opposite her preponderance in the seventh. While it begets a minor T-Square at her part of fortune (27 Taurus 28) it is near the fixed star Alcyone in Taurus.

Named for the Greek Goddess Alcyone, this star gave rise to expression “Halcyon Days” as it and its sisters, the Pleiades, rise during the nesting kingfishers.

With all this good fortune, Kristen’s career is certainly looking brilliant as she meets the press.
